Scriptorius from Algorismia

About Scriptorius

Scriptorius was built as a dedicated editorial environment to aid in the review, repair, and modernization of digital South Asian lexicons. While public-facing access to these texts is vital, maintaining and modernizing complex multi-script databases requires specialized editorial tooling.

Decades after the foundational digitizations undertaken by the Digital Dictionaries of South Asia (DDSA) and the Digital South Asia Library (DSAL), evolving Unicode standards and modern input methods require careful orthographic reconciliation. Scriptorius provides the tooling to inspect, verify, and cross-reference these entries at scale.

Editorial Objectives

Scriptorius operates as an independent research and tooling workbench. Source lexical datasets remain the scholarly heritage preserved and digitized by the Digital South Asia Library at the University of Chicago.
